Red Creek Road (Orestimba) 10.46 H E V 12/29/18

Red Creek Road is clear between Chaparral Trail and Robison Creek Trail (Posted by Sue V702 as reported by Larry V785)

Earlier posts follow from 06/29/18.

Park visitor Hartmut W reports clear and easy to follow. Only challenging part is above (or west) of the falls where the road crosses Red Creek. This part is not as overgrown as last year and it is easy to follow the creek. The fallen tree west of the Pinto Creek junction is now easy to get through.

Robison Creek Trail from Chaparral Trail to Red Creek:  3 trees down on the Red Creek by-pass. All three can be avoided, not a major obstacle.  Trail is clear and easy to follow thanks to the bench. However the trail is covered with grass.

Robison Creek Trail / section south of Hatch Springs and up to the San Antonio Valley overlook:  Trail very difficult to follow around Hatch Springs. Will require major brush removal. Road is gone in sections (washed out by the river, or completely covered with grass or brush).  Nearly impassable brush and rattlesnakes.  The critical area is concentrated on 300 yards.  One tree to clear south of Hatch Springs at the turn-out (has been there for years, there is room around it).  3-4 trees to be removed north of Hatch Springs, one is a major obstacle.  Road / trail is disappearing north of Hatch Springs in places with grass taking over.  Road is in very good condition as it ascends towards the San Antonio valley.   (Posted by Sue V702)

Robison Creek Trail (Orestimba) 5.59 H E 12/29/18

Robison Creek Trail splits in two directions about one mile north of Red Creek Road; head right and you descend to Robison Creek towards Orestimba Creek, head left and you can follow an obscure spur that terminates just beyond Pond O-29.  The pond was nearly dry with just a muddy puddle at the bottom.  Robison Creek Trail is a little brushy on the portions I hiked, mainly through the chaparral. (Posted by Sue V702 as reported by Larry V785)

Previous posts follow from 05/05/18.

Park visitor Emily H reports (East to West)"Challenging and very brushy but followable until you hit the creek bed above Robinson Falls. Lots of bushes and downed trees occasionally obscure the path. Very hard to follow and very brushy on the creek bed but doable if you just follow the creek and the general direction of the trail. The junction with Pinto Creek was a helpful landmark in the middle of the creek section. Easy to lose the path when it transitions back up to the ridge due to several downed trees right as you leave the creek.

Trail is easily followed up the ridge after the trees. However, there is no marker when the trail tees with the un-named trail that heads North-North West, making it easy to miss the downhill turn, which is obscured by brush. The trail was heavily traveled for BCW, making it easier to follow - I suspect it would have been much more challenging most other weekends." (Posted by Paul V708)

Robison Mountain Trail (Orestimba) 2.62 H E 08/25/18 Park visitor Hartmut W reports "for the most part it's clear; a few parts are overgrown, but easy to get around. The trail is not visible in most parts, but the old trail followed the ridge line and is more obvious looking from the top down. No sign exists at the junction with the Rooster Comb Trail. At the top, after the junction with Murphy Trail, the trail becomes heavy overgrown with dense brush and impassable, until finding a way around the brushy area." (Posted by Paul V708)
